On this particular occasion dealing with DR Holmes, was on behalf of my 6 year old daughter. I originally went into the surgery at about 1.30 in the afternoon to see if I could get an appointment for my daughter. She had been sent home from school due to a rash. She had had it for a couple of days and I put it down to heat and I was given her piriton, but It seemed to be getting worse and was spreading all over her body. I was told by the receptionist that a doctor would phone me and they would be able to open up an appointment for her. By 4pm I hadn't received a call back, so decided to phone to see I could get a time as to when I may receive a phone call. I was told that there was 2 calls in front of me, and therefore it would be about half an hour. 6 pm came and still nothing. However when I phoned the surgery I was told that the duty doctor had left a message on my voice mail 4.48. I informed the receptionist that I had not received a voice mail. It turns out that the doctor had phoned my old number that I haven't used in a couple of years. I have been contacted by other doctors on the correct number on previous occasions! I eventually received a call from DR Holmes at 6.20pm! All I can is he is such a rude man. He spoke over me when I was talking and wasn’t listening to a word I was saying. When I asked him what the complaint procedure was, his response was how did I expect to get an appointment when the surgery was due to close. My response to this was that if the doctor had used the correct number then maybe I would have got an appointment. To this his response was that doctors aren’t mind readers!! His final advice was to give her portion overnight and if it hadn’t improved then the surgery would be happy to see her the following day. I actually ended up phoning 111 who referred me to an out of hours surgery.

Dr Holmes is possibly the worst GP I have ever had in my life! I have PTSD, Anxiety, CRPS, Fibromyalgia and have been a victim of abuse. When finding out I had been a victim of abuse he told me that it was no big deal and told me I was to "get over it". He did not ask about my medical history nor about the symptoms I have with any of my conditions. He left me bed bound for 2 weeks as my pain has been so bad, I've started self harming again and he stopped my Opiods that I've been on for 10years, making me go cold turkey, telling me there are no withdrawals and I won't be in pain as I'm making it up. When my partner explained that everywhere we had read and the local drug and alcohol service had advised against this and asked if the GMC website had any guidance that could possibly help, Dr Holmes flew up (which made me have a flash back to being hit as a child) and ordered us out of his office and told us not to return as he would not be threatened. Disputes going back and apologising for something neither of us where aware we had done he refused to see me. After that he demanded I was to attend my appointments on my own and he was to have someone from the surgery in the room to ensure I 'behaved' appropriately, when asking if I could swap to a diffferent Gp he said that I was only allowed to have care through him. When I got upset I was told to "grow up and stop acting like a baby", stopped me from having a hug from my partner and calming down. I asked to have a moment to compose myself and was told I was Irate. I was upset as I knew the pain I was about to endure. When I made an appointment for my repeat medication that he put me back on after I was taken off of it as it didn't work, he rudely asked me why I had made the appointment and expected me to walk to a surgery that is a 10 minute drive away that would have taken me a 40minute walk to get to as I have chronic pain in my legs. Dr Holmes is a disgrace and I wouldn't wish anyone to go through what I have been through with him. I have moved surgeries and the care I am getting from there is amazing, they have LISTENED - which is something he never did, They are working with me and praising me for the hard work I am putting in to improving my health disputes having this to contend with.
